A Stitch in Time: embroidering postcards
A Stitch in Time: embroidering postcards
Curious about stitching outside of the embroidery hoop? In this class, you'll learn the techniques and skills needed to stitch successfully on paper! With needles in hand and a bit of creativity, we'll embellish vintage postcards with colorful embroidery floss.
This class is appropriate for absolute beginners as well as those who have some embroidery experience already. In the first part of the session, we'll cover the techniques specific to embroidering on paper and work together to plan designs and color combinations appropriate to each postcard. We'll learn a variety of embroidery stitches that work well on paper, including back stitch, chain stitch, stem stitch, French knots, whipped and woven wheels, and Rhodes stitch.
After the planning and learning stage, we'll have time to stitch in community together and make a start on our postcard projects. You'll go home with the skills needed to continue exploring paper embroidery on your own!
