Kawandi is a patchwork quilting style specific to the Siddi, an African diaspora in certain parts of India and Pakistan. It's a spontaneous blending of fabric scraps, hand stitched with a large needle and thick threads.
In this two-part class, you'll learn about this ancient, efficient method of quilt construction -- including how to improvise and let your fabric take the lead! You'll leave the second session with a small finished piece (comparable to a place mat) and the skills to continue stitching bigger scrap quilts at home.
