Modern mending

In this mending workshop, students will learn a variety of techniques for mending clothing, including specialty stitching, patching, and darning. Students will leave class with a completed sampler of techniques and will also have time to begin mends on any clothing they bring along.

Audience: teens and adults

Skill level: beginners

Supplies we'll provide: all tools and materials plus kind, patient instruction

Supplies to bring with you:

  1. a garment to be mended (patched, darned, or stitched)
  2. your curiosity and willingness to experiment

Instructor

MaryBeth is a lifelong crafter who specializes in garment-sewing and handstitching, and she also dabbles in many fiber arts. She has a Masters of Teaching and Learning from USM and thinks that building connections with other humans, especially crafty humans, is one of the best parts of being a teacher.
