Beginner Book Making

Learn how to make a blank book! Lenora will guide you through the process of binding, covering, and decorating your book. You'll learn how to sew pages together and attach a cover using cardboard and fabric. You'll go home with a 30 page blank book to use for journaling, doodling, schemes, rude haikus, and more.

Audience: ages 10+

Skill level: beginners welcome

Supplies we'll provide: all tools and materials plus kind, patient instruction and inspiration

Supplies to bring with you:

  • a fat quarter of cotton cloth you like (optional)
  • your curiosity and willingness to experiment (not optional)

COVID safety precautions: If you are not feeling well or if anyone in your household has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week, please stay home. Masks are welcome in our studio.

Instructor

Lenora Leibowitz is a local artist, teacher, and Maine College of Art graduate. She's been working and teaching in Portland for most of her life!
